Internet Fax Services
Right now, in the World we live in, speed and clarity of communications play a big role in business and everyday life. This era we live in has changed everything, and has helped advanced an old technology to a new level. This technology is faxing, and has moved beyond old fax machines to Internet faxing.
Internet fax providers are companies that specialize in giving you an all web-based service to send and receive faxes online. Using this new technology is very easy thanks to the providers that let you send and receive faxes in the same manner you send and receive an email. By scanning or sending an archive (in pdf or doc format) you can attach it to an email and send it to the desired number. The server on the side of the providers will convert it, so it can reach its destination as a normal paper fax.
When you sign up through these services, you will be given a local or toll-free number to receive your faxes. All of this will be handled online thanks to a web interface that works pretty much like sites offering e-mail services and Document management too.
How much do you need to invest on an Internet fax providers?
Is it worth the investment?
If you are still hesitant about using these services, companies are eager to let you try their offering first. There are some Internet fax providers that offer a free trial for a month- more than enough to let you judge about the investment by yourself. Personally, I think these are great services and are much easier to use compared to the other Internet fax solution - faxing software. Maybe software is better for bigger businesses (and also the integration of fax server), but services are much more friendly and easier to use.
Another type of Internet faxing is known as fax-to-IP. fax over ip Internet gateway products needs hardware-based routers that emulate a fax machines. With these, faxing is done in the regular way using the fax machine, but the gateway device, which then dials the destination fax machine and sends the fax, interrupts the process. The fax-to-IP service is good if you don’t send a lot of faxes, but would still like to take advantage of the savings of using Internet delivery. It is also good if you do a lot of international fax calls. The disadvantages are that you won’t save much on either domestic faxing, or faxing to countries where the Internet infrastructure is less well developed.
